Planted Caryopteris divaricata 'Snow Fairy' which I got from Natureworks in 2012. Very different from the blue mist shrub, or bluebeard Caryopteris clandonensis.
This is more like a perennial. It has bright variegated foliage that smells strongly of green peppers when you touch it.

I put it in the border along the west walkway across from the bulkhead door, where I can touch its strongly scented leaves as I walk by.

It blooms in August and September. The flowers are not very noticeable. But 'Snow Fairy''s attraction is the foliage, not the sparse, tiny flowers.

By late summer the caryopteris gets whitish and frothy looking, and I can see where the 'Snow Fairy' name comes from.

This almost did not come back in 2017. Something has affected this robust, bushy plant and only a few weak stems came up in very late spring. It lives, but is much diminished and shrunken.
