Tiarella / Foamflower

Tiarella
'Candy Striper'

Planted under the bedroom window.

They can grow in sun if kept moist, but like shade better.

Tiarella is beautiful in drifts. I’m starting to get a drift of foamy flowers in this garden, before other stuff fills in.

They bloom a long time, well into June.

Flowers are soft lush pale pink wands that stand up straight. Foliage is distinctive, with dark stripes on the green deeply lobed leaves.

In 2013 they came in beautifully and made a big river of blooms under the sweetbay magnolia. They started blooming in early May and went on through the end of June.

These tiarellas have good years and bad. It depends on spring conditions.
