The Gardens

Hydrangea paniculata / Panicle Hydrangea

Planted 'Tardiva', an old fashioned, somewhat smaller form of the upright panicle hydrangeas in 2010. It was from Lazy S. It is at the end of the gravel garden at the curve of the walk.

By 2013 it had filled in and had a gorgeous shape, blooming well. I have done no pruning at all.

'Tardiva' needs no extra water in summer. It blooms profusely. I love how they come out white, then turn to rose in early fall.

The shrub that had been so shapely in past years split open in the middle in 2015. I tried tying it up but it still flopped.

In 2016 I stretched bungee cords through the interior of the shrub and it helped keep it from splitting in the middle so much.
Blooming in August and in October, 2016.
All trussed in the interior with bungee cords
