Hypericum kalmianum / St. Johnswort

Planted Hypericum kalmianum  'Blue Velvet' in spring 2013 along the walkway across from the bulkhead door. I got it at Broken Arrow Nursery. Tovah Martin has a good profile of it here.

The flowers are bright yellow in early summer.

The foliage is greenest in summer, but then becomes a little bluer later on, adding a cool tone along the walk. After flowering there are interesting yellowish seedpods.

I added a tiny plug of H. kalmianum 'Sunny Boulevard' in 2014 from Nature Hills at the top of the stone wall at the end of the driveway pavers. It is supposed to be quite compact, to about 2 or 3 feet round. It's small, but the blooms are supposed to be numerous and long blooming.

It did nothing in 2014 and did not grow the next year either. In 2015 'Sunny Boulevard' was barely there, just twigs. Not much to see, maybe won't survive.
