For years the patch by the front walk spread and filled the whole ground between the walk and the front porch, but by 2016 it had declined, and only a few plants are left now.
The plants I have are apparently the species, and not a popularly sold cultivar 'Massachusetts'. The cultivar has much smaller, tiny leaves than the species.

The leaves are glossy, very nice looking and the tiny flowers are pink bells, almost blueberry-like.

I have planted snowdrops and crocuses and tiny iris reticulata to come up through the greenery in spring.
In 2014 there was a lot of winter burn for the first time, and it looked pretty awful. I pruned out the browned areas but kinnikinnik does not take well to pruning.
