Perovskia / Russian Sage

Perovskia
atriplicifolia

Russian sage has never done well for me. There are now only two skimpy ones, flanking the furthest white birch at the back corner of the property.

My all time favorite shots are from two botanical gardens we visited in 2012. This is what Russian sage can look like! It definitely needs a backdrop.  The wispy jewel colored flowers need something dark and bold nearby.

Both of mine under the birch tree are still little, wispy and competing with the birch. They haven't bloomed enough to look like anything with the rows of orange ditch lilies -- Meh.
