I got two small yew shrubs from Lowe's and planted them behind the air conditioners to cover the foundation. They are fillers behind the viburnum and fothergillas that line the edge of the west walk.
The key is to prune them into nice shapes while young, so I don’t have to hack them into funny shape when older and they are encroaching on the AC units. Keep them well shaped now.
They can be attractive and interesting plants, but not so much when used as I have done here, as blobs to hide the foundation.
2014 -- they are still there, still offering a little screening of the foundation, behind the blackhaw viburnum and sheltered among the a/c units.

Hicksii = female (berries), Brownii = male. Mine have no berries, so I assume they are males.
