Slow growing, denser than white spruce species. I put them at the bottom of the back hill.
Small plants from Home Depot. These will come in nicely, but they are very slow growers. The idea is to get 3 of these to fill in the steep angle of the cut at the center of the back hill. These should frame well against the maples up the hill.

In 2010 two are adding size, although slowly. The third, more to the front toward the middle of the meadow, is a little chlorotic (yellower) and has no new growth. Hasn't added any size since transplant in '07. This one may be dying? Move it?
In 2012 there are now only two left, but they are slowly growing.

In 2014 I took out one of the two remaining -- it was badly shaded and not doing well. Now only one is left. The back of it is bare of branches, since it is so shaded on that side. But from across the meadow it looks good, tucked between the growing forest trees.

In 2015 it was a real presence at the edge of the woods. Didn't get any photos of it, though!
