Dicentra / Bleeding Heart

Dicentra
'Burning Hearts'

Blue green dissected ferny foliage and bright red blooms.  Compact plant.  This is also called Fernleaf Bleeding Heart because of the foliage.  I just put these in (two plants) in Meadow's Edge, but they struggled the first year in the heat wave of '10.  The picture is from MoBot, mine didn't do enough to photograph.

I'm not sure they fit the style of this garden, where I have added Russian sage, I plan to add Karl Foerster grasses, and I already have winterberry hollies and spirea.  These low Bleeding Hearts with the high red / blue contrast may not be the right mix with the looser, more informal look I am creating.

OOps.  As of 2011 this is an ex-plant.  Died.
