The Gardens

Cornus racemosa / Gray Dogwood

In 2013 I got a small one from the Northwest Connecticut Conservation District sale and put it in the blueberry garden strip in back.

The challenge is to keep it pruned up as a small tree, rather than the thickety suckering shrub it wants to be.
5/29/15 pruned to keep the lower stems open

It blooms in late June, with creamy white flat blooms. They are not very showy, but nice enough.
Sometimes the flowers are more beige than white

Still a small shrubby thing next to the redbud.. .  should gain height and gracefulness in the coming years.

Fall color was deep wine red, but not bright.
