Katsura needs moisture especially during drought, keep it watered. Heart shaped eaves emerge reddish purple in spring, mature to medium green. It has a wonderful burnt sugar smell in fall.
Here's an ancient katsura at Arnold Arboretum.. They get very large and spreading, but mine is single trunk and won't branch multi stemmed and low like this one.

9/6/13, just planted. I like how it looks framed in the porch window. |

It had the wonderful scent in fall! It was there only briefly on one day, and only when the breeze was just right, but I smelled cotton candy. Fall color is apricot gold.

A little winter damage in 2015 and 2016, leaving a gap in the upper canopy, but not bad.

Love the rounded leaves.
